In the exhibition, the architect and photographer presents a journey that reveals the lesser-known side of the Costa Brava’s aquatic landscape, aiming to uncover a new reality, to connect intimately with the surroundings, and to show the visitor new landscapes that have always been there.

This project consists of 20 photographs, arranged in such a way that they form, in a sense, a collage. However, each one offers a second reading. At first glance, the images may appear abstract, but as we stop and reflect on them, we can analyze the complexity of the landscape they represent. We will discover the wrinkles of the rocks, the wear caused by the water, the small mollusks that have made it their home, the settled vegetation, and the tiny creatures that leave their marks in the sand…

The photographs naturally pair or group together, either by compositional similarity or content, creating a journey that moves from the darkest and harshest to the clearest and softest images.

Carles Sánchez Fernández

(Girona, 1991) Architect trained at the University of Girona and the Politecnico di Milano. Before starting his solo career as an architect, he collaborated in studios such as RCR Arquitectes, Camps Felip Arquitecturia, and Rafael Moneo, the latter thanks to the ARQUIA Fellowship.
A self-taught photographer, always drawn to photography, he works around architecture and landscape, exploring various analog and alternative processes. He has been published in internationally recognized media such as El Croquis, A+U, ArquitecturaViva, and Quaderns, and has been awarded several national prizes.

"Cicle Mirades"

The "Mirades" cycle is a cultural initiative of the Centre Obert d'Arquitectura, sponsored by Cosentino Barcelona, involving all the COAC's branches. It consists of a series of exhibitions that connect the entire territory in a collaborative manner, highlighting local heritage through the lens of a photographer and their narrative about the connection with the four elements of nature: water, earth, air, and fire.
Each element will be the theme of an annual exhibition, represented by a different photographer, completing the series over four years and expanding the legacy of the COAC's Historical Archive through the donation of photographic records that will form the exhibitions. In this way, from a local perspective, global commitments will be shared and debated.
