Photographic Archive
Section of the Historical Archive that houses photographic resources with the mission of documenting, preserving and disseminating them. Due to both its size and relevance, it is considered one of the best archives of architectural images in Spain.
Noteworthy collections include those of photographers Francesc Catalán-Roca, Oriol Maspons and Lluís Casals; Lluís Domènech i Montaner’s collection of photographs of Romanesque architecture; the glass plate negatives from Gaudi’s workshop; and the vintage positives attributed to Opisso, from the Matamala Collection, as well as numerous reports by the great contemporary photographers.
Services
- ACCESS AND CONSULTATION Access to the Historical Archives is free. Consultation is by appointment, which can be requested in person, by email or by telephone.
- IN-PERSON INFORMATION The information service offers personalised assistance to resolve any queries related to the Archive’s services and resources, as well as to help locate other centres or collections.
- REPRODUCTION OF DOCUMENTS It is possible to order digital copies of original documents, as long as the state of conservation so permits and it does not contravene current laws.
- LOANS FOR EXHIBITIONS The Historical Archive lends its documents to institutions that carry out dissemination activities.
