Cristiane Muniz and Fernando Viegas

Cristiane Muniz and Fernando Viegas have been founding partners of the Una Arquitetos office since its creation in 1996, and since 2019 they have also been founding partners of UNA MUNIZVIEGAS, where they direct a wide range of projects at different scales and contexts. They have conducted design related research in different programs, such as equipment for public transport, urban projects, cultural spaces, schools, historical heritage, residential and commercial buildings, articulating a comprehensive and multidisciplinary reflection on issues associated with architecture and urban planning.

Muniz is currently the director of the Escola da Cidade School of Architecture and Urbanism in São Paulo. Together with Maira Rios, she organised and coordinated the postgraduate course "Architecture, Education and Society" from 2014 to 2019 at the same school, where she has also been a teacher of Projects since 2004.

Viégas is the Vice President of the Escola da Cidade School of Architecture and Urbanism in São Paulo. Together with Alvaro Puntoni, he has been organising and coordinating the postgraduate course “Geography, City and Architecture” at the same school since 2010, where he has also been a teacher at Estudio Vertical since 2005.

He has also given lectures at various universities, such as GSD Harvard and the University Institute of Architecture in Venice, as well as lectures and workshops at the Autonomous University of Lisbon, University of Virginia, TU Dortmund, Akademie der Kunste in Berlin, University of Texas Austin, ISCHTE Lisbon, University of Buenos Aires, National University of Córdoba, University of Talca, University of Neoquen, Litoral National University, Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, ETS of Seville, Iberoamerican Biennial of Asunción, International Biennial of Santiago, Biennial of Architecture of Quito, Pan-American Biennial of La Paz, among others.

His work has been published in various journals including GA Houses, Plot, Architecture d'Aujourd'hui, A + U, Summa, C3, Arquine, Domus, Projeto and AU.

Cristiane Muniz was born in São Paulo in 1970 and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAUUSP) in 1993, where she completed her master's degree in 2005.

Fernando Viégas was born in São Paulo in 1971 and graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism of the University of São Paulo (FAUUSP) in 1994, where he completed his master's degree in 2004.
