As part of the exhibition of the European Prize for Urban Public Space 2024, the Centre for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) and the Girona Branch of COAC organize the closing of the homonymous exhibition, in which the Batlleiroig Arquitectura team will participate with the project Paseo Boca de la Mina in Reus, a finalist in the general category, and EMF Estudi Martí Franch with the presentation of the project Camino de Ronda in Palamós, a finalist in the waterfront category. Following this, there will be a debate and dialogue session with architect Beth Galí, President of the 2024 Jury, and architect Lluís Ortega, Secretary of the 2024 Jury.
European Prize for Urban Public Space
It is a biennial award organized by the Centre for Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB), which, since 2000, has recognized the best projects in the creation, transformation, and recovery of public spaces, understood as a clear indicator of the democratic health of European cities. This award prioritizes interventions that improve urban life through solutions with a social vocation, sustainability, and the preservation of historical memory, avoiding purely aesthetic architecture. The 2024 edition includes a new category dedicated to maritime spaces, to address challenges such as climate change and promote better coexistence between the city and the sea.
