ARCHITECTURE DIALOGUES WITH F. XAVIER SOLÉ

COAC Ebre presents new “Architecture Dialogues with F. Xavier Solé,” around his latest book “Manual of the Dry Stone Builder.”
Dry stone constructions form a landscape that is part of the identity of the Terres de l’Ebre, thanks to an ancient construction technique from the Mediterranean arc, which has been recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
The expertise and craftsmanship of sculptor and Fine Arts graduate, F. Xavier Solé, in the trade of dry stone masonry, has led him to gather the foundations of this technique in his manual, one that must be preserved and protected, thanks to the solutions it provides for an architecture—stone architecture—that he deeply loves and defends.
This is all through a dialogue with cultural anthropologist and museologist, Carme Queralt, an expert in ethnological and intangible heritage, especially from the Terres de l’Ebre, who will guide us on this journey around stone, based on popular memory and historical documentation.
A journey through a book that, as a guide, shows us a trade and an art that exemplifies the effort and constructive skill of humans to meet their needs using a material like dry stone.
