Presentation of the book Antoni Puig Gairalt, Architect and Humanist, 1888-1935 by Marta Cervelló, the author; Antoni Gelonch, lawyer, writer, patron, and art promoter; and Joan Viader, architect.
Antoni Puig Gairalt (L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, 1888 – Barcelona, 1935) was a key figure in Catalan architecture during the transition from the Noucentisme movement to Modernism. Thanks to the discovery of his personal diary, architect Marta Cervelló Casanova, his great-niece, offers us a biographical insight into this brilliant architect, who also excelled as a pianist. He performed solo or with Pau Casals, Mercè Plantada, or, four hands, with Wanda Landowska, interpreting works by Schumann, Mozart, César Franck, and especially Bach.
