Coinciding with the centenary of Pier Paolo Pasolini’s birth, this debate is organised around his documentary Locations in Palestine. In 1963, the brilliant Italian filmmaker traveled to the Holy Land while working on the project for his film The Gospel According to St. Matthew. Pasolini wanted to know first-hand the real landscapes of the life of Christ, which he later recreated in Italy. Through excerpts from this film, architectural film director Ila Beka, director Maria Mauti and architect Fredy Massad discuss the connections between architectural landscapes and human figures with an emphasis on Pasolini’s reflection as a provocation thrown into the world of cinema and architecture
